Lately, every day seems like Father's Day around here. Not that he doesn't deserve all the attention he is getting!

We tried our best to make today a special day. Linda and Bill provided the food. Bill did the cooking and served up an exceptional grilled pork roast.

Everyone ate until they were about to pop. Everyone but my Daddy that is. He hasn't eaten in a couple of weeks. Not even the smell of that roast could conjure up an appetite. He did enjoy the company though. Especially spending time
with Elliott and Taylor. Lately he is spending
hours a day on the patio. The weather has been
nice with a light breeze most days and he likes
watching the neighbor ladies work in their gardens
and Rootbeer explore the yard.

In the second photo you can see his "walker." It has become his best friend in the last few days. He isn't getting around very well which means he has done a lot of falling. Falling is hard on the nerves of those who have to pick him up!! Linda finally told him he was either going to use the walker or he was going to have to go to a Nursing Home.

She is mean to him like that. I would never be mean to him like that. Of course, I guess mean

is called for at times because he is now taking that walker every where he goes. It's a comfort to those of us who were constantly having to help him up off the floor but also a new, constant reminder of how frail he is becoming.

His spirits are high though and that is what counts. He still cracks jokes and makes fun of my mother. It's funny though how things that were of interest to him before he became sicker don't seem important now. He no longer checks his email and watches very little T.V. He is either on the patio or in his hospital bed.

He seemed to have an extra good day today as far as how he felt physically. Linda and Bill were here. Bill's sister Wanda and her two children also and of course Taylor, Elliott and I. After we had eaten and everyone had gone home we had a surprise visit by Freddie and Foy Walker. They had been to Clarksville to visit one of their children and stopped by on their way home. That was a very nice Father's Day surprise!!

I plan on posting photos and news about his days regularly. I thought since he was no longer sending out emails that this would be a good way for those who think about him to keep up with how he is doing. So, if you get to thinking about him just check this journal every few days for an update.

Also, there is a place to leave comments. All you have to do is click on the link below that says, "comments" and you can leave him a message or just say hello. I hope all you fathers out there had a wonderful Father's Day!

It was a great day Tom, much fun was had by all. It's taken Elliott years to get that fuzz. He has worked hard and is proud. His mother will be glad when he outgrows the desire for facial hair.

When I stopped getting email I assumed JB was not feeling well. Its good that he remembers relatives from "back When" I know he remembers the summers when they would come and stay awhile with Granny Spears. If there ever was a time of "good Ole days" those were. None of had any thing but were happy none the less. JB now (and Kenneth) remind me so much of Uncle Homer. Tell him I am as bald headed as my Daddy was. Yesterday was my 74th birthday and our cousin Dixie Himes called me today. She is going to call again at 6 -- I mentioned to her this email she could get -- such a great idea. We still haven''t gotten over Mark's death -- never will. "We'll understand it better by and by". Tell JB Hello> Max Lindsey
